My take on Fyrinnae

I finally hauled with Fyrinnae cosmetics!  I ordered the Pixy  Epoxy, Translucent face powder for oily skin and a boat load of eye shadows.

Swatch photos after the Jump!

First the Swatchery:

Biker Chic/Damn Paladins/Cookie Dough/Trickery

Android angel/Herbavore/Boytoy/Wicked

Beholder/Knickers in a Twist/Storm Bringer/Dokkalafar/Leshn

All swatched over "Pixy Epoxy"

First of all, I will say that when I ordered from Fyrinnae I seriously thought they were in Norway or something just based on the name. Nope. My order shipped from.... Tacoma! We're almost neighbours. The website clearly states 4-14 business days to create your order and ship it out. I received a shipping notification via email that my order had shipped out. Even so, upon seeing that it came from Tacoma I felt the shipping was Slooowww. Yes, I know it's international. Yes, shipping was SO CHEAP compared to other companies. No, it's not a reflection on them. I'm just saying.

Fyrinnae bases a lot of their names for things on sub culture, be it World of Warcraft, Lord of the rings, goth vamp etc etc. This makes it kind of a pain for me to type them out for you! (uh, how do I spell dokkanafaralrelrje again let me see) The website does have linkage to bloggers who have swatched a lot of the shadow and lip colours aiding you with your decisions. And, they allow you to order sample sizes. Which is all I ordered since this is a new company for me. Standard cart checkout system, and paypal. Bonus!

Now, how do you feel about loose eye shadow? I am so torn. On the one hand, Fyrinnae are lovely soft pigmented shadows, on the other hand I hate loose eyeshadow. I feel that so much is wasted during the application process mostly because I'm a clumsy camel and I get it all over my vanity.

Using Pixy epoxy-this is not a eyeshadow primer really. It's a tube of glycerin that allows the more glittery shadows to hold on your eyelid. I was less than thrilled with this whole order UNTIL I realized that YOU HAVE TO LET THE STUFF DRY on your eyelids or it makes all of your eye shadows muddy. That was my chief complaint with Fyrinnae until I figured out how to use the stuff. If you use the epoxy and let it get tacky (sticky) your eye shadow will apply much more smoothly and allow better blending of other colors into your base shadow. I found you must use an extremely light hand or the shadows end up looking chalky when applied over each other if they are both lighter shades. In summary, I have positive things to say about the pixy epoxy and Fyrinnae shadows although I will still be pressing them into pans for ease of use later on.

On to the translucent face powder. I bought this because I figured it would be a great inexpensive replacement to my beloved MAC finishing powder.  Not so. I can dust MAC powder on to my face to set my foundation with an EXTREMELY heavy hand and it will buff out. This powder made me look like Lindsay Lohan (sorry girl, you do it to yourself) after a day long coke binge. I used my MAC Kabuki to try and buff some of the whiteness out , eventually I had to use the damp sponge I used for my foundation to blot it off. Regardless of if it has Talc in the ingredients or not, I found it very "talc-y" and if you can afford MAC skip this.

I will more than likely order from them again, it was a fun haul! You can order from them HERE
